Very tasty food. Got the brisket and chicken tacos. Both were excellent.

Love the BBQ, but they are closing local locations. Miss the free soft serve... But hope to see it return soon!! Great daily specials...

Although this is the Richmond outpost of a chain, you won't find a more friendly and helpful staff at any other dining spots. Barbecue here is smoked with plenty of choices: brisket, ribs, turkey, pork, sausage, and sliced or chopped. Surprisingly, only three sauces- spicy, sweet, or regular. Good for families with free kids meals Sunday and singles who want to eat and read.

Been eating here for about 2 years. First off... the food is really good and I have received good service from everyone that works there. However, it is very obvious that the owners are cheap. The ice cream machine have been broken for almost 2 years. The Tvs haven’t worked in close to 6 months. They also got rid of the ice cream cones. The sludge that comes out of the machine is a pathetic excuse for ice cream. FIX THE PROBLEMS or i will go elsewhere.

Online hours are wrong drove an hour for them to have closed 2 hours earlier now! Beyond disgusted

Relaxed atmosphere, AMAZING food at a decent price, and to top it all off there's FREE soft serve!! Highly recommend this place if you like good BBQ!

The service is friendly but slow. Food is consistent. Meats are very good, but sides are just so-so.

Decent 'retail' BBQ; Pork was dry with minimal smoke ring and not much smoke flavor. Brisket was better than pork.

Decent food. Should not participate in to-go/Uber eats. Our original order was totally botched/missing items. Not worth it enough to eat from here ever again. Better BBQ places in Richmond.

Mostly friendly staff, good food. Only complaint is the ice cream machine is not set cold enough. It's like a milkshake in a cone...

Great food and hospitality. I came shortly before closing on August 3rd and the two gentlemen were still very hospitable. I will recomend and come back. On a side note, the only person I could imagine not enjoying their time is one of the guys in the Reagan picture on the wall. I get it.

The atmosphere is calm and bliss, very nice place to sit down with the fam and eat. The food is delicious, usually when I go to a barbeque place it's either dry or greasy but, here is moist and delicious. Great food for a descent price, recommend to all my friends and family. This is not a biased post towards the restaurant, honest opinion for my first time here.

Nice place to eat...great folks and good bbq

I went to this place for the first time yesterday and had the pulled pork sandwich platter with macaroni and beans. The macaroni and baked beans were both okay. The pulled pork was better than average. Not too dry. I tried both their original and sweet sauces and both were very tasty. Overall the location was clean and the staff friendly, as good or better than most of the barbecue spots around the area. I would definitely go there again.

This is to expensive for what it is. It's not great barbeque and the service is only decent.

Incredible Service and Food!!! Called from Chesterfield today and asked if they have ribs. Heather answered and said, yes, I will hold you one if you like. This is due to the Forest Hill location that more often than not was out of ribs/food and did not want to drive 30+ miles for nothing. Got there, she and the entire staff were kind, friendly, and the place actually smelled of wood smoke; unlike the Forest Hill location which is now closed. I will gladly make the drive as the food and service is what we come to expect from our first experience last year in Myrtle Beach, SC while on vacation. This is our new VA BBQ location. On my first visit, staff took time to explain menu items and options. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and one of the owners was on-site working. Franchise location is family owned and operated.

The staff was worse than the food. The baked potato casserole was brown, the baked beans were gritty and the meat was awful, but like i said.... the staff was worse!

When deciding some of my favorite food stops, friendlyness and happiness are definitely traits high on my list besides just good food. Although I loved the BBQ, the service was not great. Walked in shortly before 5pm. We were the only people in there. One of the employees startes welcoming us without even looking at us in the slightest. Both employees working never smiled. Nor were they enthusiastic. While looking at the menu trying to decide what we wanted one of the employees asked what we wanted and we said we were still looking. She then proceeded to stand there blankly, like a statue, either looking at us or past us the whole time. Very strange. Finally we made our decision and gave our order. The service we received was not happy or pleasant, but dry and disappointing. I don't think I'll be visiting here again any time soon!

First time ordering from Dickey’s Barbeque Pit on Broad St. yesterday and although it was a reasonable delivery time, one persons full order was missing and a side was not there, and the food was so cold we had to reheat in the microwave. Disappointing to say the least.

Easily my favorite BBQ in Richmond - Texas style BBQ that is. Been getting better and better with new owners. The brisket is the best I've had outside of Texas. Pulled pork is quite good too, sausage has improved markedly in the last 6 months. Great food at reasonable prices. They have daily specials too.

The staff greeted us as soon as we came in the door and were fast and efficient as well as friendly. The food was fantastic! Plenty of condiments and drink choices. Parking is free and available. Restrooms are clean with hot and cold water, soap and towels.

This was my first visit to this location. I found the dining room clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and happy to answer questions about the menu. The beef brisket was flavorful and tenderand the the sides were provided in reasonable portions and tasty.

This place is great! The manager/owner (?) let me try the brisket before buying. We came back a week later and they remembered us which was a nice touch. Really really good!

This place is always good! Food is fantastic and the staff is pleasant.

Absolutely delicious. I can't recall their name but the young lady and gentleman running the night shift tonight we're absolutely incredible and accommodating. Very friendly. Came in less than an he before closing and it was no problem at. The hospitality and friendly smiles were much appreciated after a long day

I am really disappointed. I got there about 8 pm, and the place was closed. The lights were out, and the last workers cleaning up. It was the last day on my coupon for my free Dickey's birthday sandwich. The website says the place is open until 9pm....I was so looking forward to my Dickey's Birthday Sandwich.... :(

Pretty good barbecue, but a bit pricey in my opinion.

These ribs are AMERICA. The ribs make me want to ride a bald eagle, whilst carrying an American flag into battle. As well, you can add all the BBQ sauce you want to them! Cannot get enough of them!!!

This location, accoreding to the sign on the door, is CLOSED. I knew the family that owned it, they seemed great when I went there. Is SAD.

I love this restaurant. My friend showed it to me, and we ended up going back 4 times within the next 2 weeks.... It's a bit pricey depending on what you get, but its well worth it. Everything is good there. Plus they have free ice cream!!!

Delicious, fast food. Mildly confusing menu but helpful and friendly staff to help you figure it out. Love coming here for the delicious BBQ, free ice cream and a big yellow cup.

I went here during lunch and there were no customers and only two staff members without any sense of responsibility. Despite seeing all these bad signs, I gave the place the benefit of the doubt. I asked for the fatty part (point) of the brisket and the girl looks at the brisket and says "it looks kinda lean today." Once I saw how she sliced the brisket, I was certain the staff on duty had zero knowledge of BBQ. Everything tasted old and nasty. I was unable to finish the meal. I will not be returning to Dickeys

12-21-18 Update: I've removed my prior post as I realized that I should have spoken with management first before posting my review. (Especially as I was upset & should not have posted while being upset.)I totally understand the manager's stance after speaking with him as you can't have customers bringing in full meals from other restaurants to eat inside their facility as it's also a rude gesture to do. I am guilty of this as well since my 7 & 10 year old children only like to eat cheese pizza, chicken nuggets, and grilled cheese sandwiches. My alternative solution is to order grilled cheese for my kids to eat so my wife and I can enjoy the barbecue as we really enjoy eating at Dickey's Barbecue. The owner is very willing to have a conversation if there's a problem, and I'm thankful that he was willing to take my call today. I look forward to giving Dickey's Barbecue another chance this evening.

Did not enjoy the food. Portions were also super small. First and last meal here. Smoked turkey was a turkey loaf!! Ugghhh

Great Brisket, Jalapeño & Cheddar Kielbasas' AMAZING! Staff is very hospitable. Wife and I stopped by today before we left town and plan to come back

Food was ok. Pulled pork sandwich was very salty, although it could have been the bun. Didn't finish my meal. Didn't hate it, but won't go again. Sauce wasn't my style. Free ice cream was nice, and it was a good value for the volume of food I got.

I was able to get in and out with a to go order within 3 min. The brisket was very tender, a little dry, but the bbq sauce that was included (never asked for any) helped round it out to a pretty awesome meat selection. Mac and Cheese was on point - not over done like so many other places. Slaw is generic, but I've had worse. The staff was friendly and attentive. I look forward to sneaking out of the office again soon to grab lunch.
